Small and Wonderful Progress

I’ve made small progress so far this month, being distracted with birthdays and such. However, over the weekend, I sat down and finished Part One! It’s extremely sloppy and I need to completely re-write almost everything but I at least can say that the first draft of Part One is completed.

Which leads to what I’m most excited about; while writing Part One, I had a major breakthrough with my antagonist. She’s been giving me trouble left and right; the problem was that I didn’t know who she was, what her motives were, what her voice was like, or anything. Well, she’s no longer a problem! Simply taking a leap of faith and completely changing her personality did the trick; I was thinking of her all wrong! I now feel like I’ve met her and I know exactly what I need do with her.

So, it’s a big enough breakthrough that’s worth documenting here; it’s quite a relief to not be so clueless with my own character anymore. Lol. 🙂

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! Gah! I know just how nice it feels to finally understand a character!!! You must be feeling so nice right now. 🙂

  2. Yay!! Congrats!!! I feel like I’ve gotten to know my characters really well through Camp NaNo, too. July is apparently an awesome month for writers 😀

    • Oh good, I’m so glad you’ve had some good success too! 😀 Squeeee! I just hope I can finish the first draft before July is over! I’m keeping my fingers crossed! 🙂

  3. Congrats!

From experience, I think there’s a point in every book where you finally come to know the character, and can press forward easily. I’m glad that you’ve reached it. Writing is as much a journey for the author as for the reader!

    • Thank you.

And you are so right. Sometimes I think it’s more a journey for the author then reader; the reader is simply privileged to read the fruit of that person’s struggles and growth. 🙂 That aspect of reading/writing is something I’ve never thought before as a person until I started seriously writing. 🙂

Feedback on my writing is my favorite thing! Make my day!
